The game of tennis is constantly changing. With each new generation of tennis champions, there are big changes on players technique, footwork, fitness and training methods.
The main reason tennis has evolved so rapidily is because of the equipment. Rackets and strings are now made of different and ligther materials than in the past, allowing the players to develop amazing racket speeds and spins without losing control of the ball.
The increase on racket head speed has forced the majority of advanced players to change or adjust the mechanichs of their strokes in order to maximize pace and spin.
Playing modern competitive tennis requires high levels of speed, strenght, power, flexibility, coordination and endurance. Coaches knowdledge of the advances in biomechanics, training methods, footwork technique and on court efficiency are vital to develop these physical abilities.
